The first thing I do is recognize that I'm too tired. It sounds simple but moms have a tendency to "just keep on going" because we're used to being tired.

Once I've realized that being too tired is the issue I talk to my husband about planning a break. Asking for help is an amazing, and underutilized tool.

Ah, a very important part of Peeling Moms Off the Ceiling is making sure you get enough rest. Heck, it's important for anyone! There's a million things I have to say on this topic, but here's one that has always stuck with me:

My cousin is a mother of four, all under the age of 10 (sound familiar, Leta?), and she said:

"An important thing I had to do was *accept* that I was never going to sleep like I did before I had kids. I still try to get enough sleep and do my best but if I hold myself to the standard of how I slept beforehand I'm always going to be frustrated."

Interesting, huh? Love this topic.
